All pupils to be offered 'life skills' in cookery
ALL schoolchildren are to be offered cookery lessons - from baking cakes to making spaghetti bolognese.
The move is designed to encourage children to eat more healthily and will be formally unveiled by ministers today.
Schools will lay on courses of 24 one-hour lessons for 11-16 year-olds. A spokesman for the Department for Education and Skills said: "We want to see a resurgence in the art of cookery. All kids will now get the chance to learn hands-on cookery."
