Where should your food come from?

Slate magazine poses the question- Organic or Local? If your organic veg has flown half way around the world when you could buy it from a farm within a hundred miles, have you made the right choice?

The article is a critique of Whole Foods, a US chain founded upon ethical principles who Slate feels are failing in some small but significant ways. I don't know of any equivalent chain in the UK, though all the supermarkets are doing their own greenwashing. The choice here is easy. You buy local, local and organic if possible. Casa Spinneyhead gets regular veg boxes from Northern Harvest, (though we're too cheap to shell out for the organic ones and just take the local produce boxes).
