Shoppers leave junk food on the shelf
Millions of Britons are avoiding junk food and buying healthier alternatives instead, causing a slump in sales for many popular food and drink brands, a new study has revealed.
Crisps, chocolate and sweets were some of the worst-affected goods of the past year.
The annual survey published in The Grocer magazine reveals how the nation's shopping baskets have changed over the year to October.
Walkers Crisps lost nearly £30million in sales across its range of bagged snacks over the 12 months. This is equivalent to around 100million bags of crisps.
